In 2020, we adopted the sweetest 100-pound dog, Elliott, who just happened to be reactive on a leash. Getting him around the block with our two other dogs turned out to be harder than we ever imagined. We tried every kind of leash.
Standard climbing rope leashes had us constantly winding them up and getting our fingers smashed when Elliott pulled. Hands-free leashes didn't give us enough control, and retractable leashes never seemed to work fast enough.
On walks, we’d constantly talk about the leash we wished existed. One we could hold onto with all our strength without getting rope burn. One that would let us keep our hands free without giving our dogs too much slack. Something we could shorten without messing with buttons or winding around our hands.
Eventually, we stopped wishing and started designing. Now we’re Unwind Walks, real dog people making leashes and accessories made to handle more.
